Jeffrey Blake is a former American football quarterback who played 14 seasons in the NFL for seven teams.
Early life and college
- Born December 4, 1970, in Daytona Beach, Florida.
- Starred at Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida.
- Played college football at East Carolina University, where he helped the team win a lot and finished sixth in the 1991 Heisman Trophy voting.
- Inducted into the East Carolina Hall of Fame in 2007.
NFL career
- Drafted in 1992 by the New York Jets (6th round). He played there two seasons.
- Best years came with the Cincinnati Bengals (1994–1999). He made the Pro Bowl in 1995 and threw for a Bengals record 93-yard touchdown in the Pro Bowl.
- 1995 was his standout season: about 3,800 passing yards and 28 touchdowns.
- Also played for the New Orleans Saints (2000–2001), Baltimore Ravens (2002), Arizona Cardinals (2003), Philadelphia Eagles (2004), and Chicago Bears (2005).
- Finished his NFL career with 21,711 passing yards, 134 touchdown passes, and 99 interceptions. He also rushed for 2,027 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns, starting 100 games.
Personal life and post-football
- After retiring, Blake settled in Austin, Texas.
- He and his wife Lewanna have four children: Emory, Torre, Trey, and Lahne.
- His son Emory won a national championship with Auburn in 2010.
- His daughter Torre appeared on The Voice in 2024.
- Blake has worked as a football coach and helped run quarterback programs, including at IMG Academy. In 2023, he became head coach and offensive coordinator for Valley Sports Academy’s 7-on-7 team in Wisconsin.
