Egino, Duke of Thuringia
Egino (died 3 August 908) was a noble in East Francia who ruled Thuringia as duke in the late 9th century. He belonged to the Popponid family and was the younger brother of Henry of Franconia and Poppo of Thuringia; they may have been sons or grandsons of Poppo of Grapfeld.
He and his brother Poppo fought in Thuringia in 882–883. In 882, he and the Saxons defeated Poppo and the Thuringians; in 883 he is listed as co-duke and savagely defeated his brother, forcing him to retreat with only a small remnant of his forces.
The death date is unclear: a Fulda necrology says Egino died in 886, but he is mentioned in charters as living in 887 and 888. He was killed in battle with the Magyars, along with Burchard, Duke of Thuringia, and Rudolf I, Bishop of Würzburg.
