Jean-Pierre Liégeois
Jean-Pierre Liégeois (born 1947) is a French sociologist and honorary professor at Paris Descartes University. In 1979 he founded the Gypsy Research Center in the university’s social sciences department and led it as president until 2003. He works as an expert for the Council of Europe and has collaborated with the European Commission on Roma issues since the early 1980s. He is a member of GEPECS (Groupe d'étude pour l'Europe de la culture et de la solidarité). His research focuses on Roma populations, minorities and politics, and how these groups interact with international and European institutions, policies, and migration contexts.
