The Tin Flute (film)
The Tin Flute (French: Bonheur d'occasion) is a 1983 Canadian drama film directed by Claude Fournier. It adapts Gabrielle Roy’s novel of the same name and stars Mireille Deyglun. The film features cinematography by Savas Kalogeras, editing by Yves Langlois, and music by François Dompierre. It was produced by Robert Verrall and Marie-José Raymond and co-produced by the National Film Board of Canada’s French-language branch, Ciné St-Henri Inc., and Société Radio-Canada.
Release and language: The film runs 123 minutes and is in English and French. It premiered in Moscow in July 1983 and opened in Canada on August 28, 1983.
Recognition: The Tin Flute was entered into the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. It was selected as Canada’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 56th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
