Honda CB50
The Honda CB50 is a small 50 cc street motorcycle built by Honda from 1971. It has a single-cylinder, air‑cooled, four‑stroke SOHC engine and began in Japan as the Benly CB50. As the smallest bike in the CB family, it appealed to young riders with sporty styling, including a long two‑tone fuel tank. The early Japanese model, the CB50K1, produced about 6 PS (4 kW) at 10,500 rpm and could reach around 95 km/h. An upgraded version, the CB50JX‑1, appeared in 1973 with a bit more power and a cable‑operated front disc brake. When exported to Europe around 1978 as the CB50J, European rules for 50cc bikes limited riders under 17 and reduced power to roughly 2 bhp at 5,500 rpm, lowering top speed to about 40 km/h (25 mph). Despite the limits, the CB50 is remembered as a great entry‑level bike that sparks a lifelong love of riding.
