James Bert Modesitt (November 24, 1875 – September 13, 1946) was an American college coach for football and baseball. He was the 12th head football coach at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, for two seasons (1898–1899), with a record of 3–5–2. He was the first Wabash coach to stay longer than one season. In 1899, he also coached Wabash baseball, finishing with a 2–6 record. Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Modesitt died in Asheville, North Carolina, at age 70.
