Jaleq
Jaleq, pronounced Jālq and written جالق in Persian, is a city in eastern Iran. It is the capital of Golshan County and its Central District, in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. The city lies near the border with Pakistan and is mainly populated by Baluchi people. Jaleq is Iran’s easternmost city. The Persian name means “the trodden place.”
Population has grown from 13,903 people in 2006 (2,594 households) to 17,546 in 2011 (3,566 households) and 18,098 in 2016 (4,719 households). In 2019, Golshan County was created and Jaleq became the capital of the new county and its Central District; previously it was part of Saravan County.
