J. Grubb Alexander
J. Grubb Alexander (December 25, 1887 – January 11, 1932) was an American screenwriter in the silent film era. He wrote for more than 90 films between 1916 and 1932. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Florence Grubb Alexander; his father was from Scotland, and his mother was the daughter of Captain Evan P. Grubb, a Civil War veteran. He died of pneumonia in Los Angeles at the age of 44.
