Medellín small-eared shrew
The Medellín small-eared shrew (Cryptotis medellinia) is a small mammal in the shrew family (Soricidae). It is found only in Colombia, in the northern parts of the Cordillera Occidental and Cordillera Central, at elevations around 2,500–2,800 meters (8,200–9,200 feet). It lives in montane forests and nearby cultivated areas. Predators include the crab-eating fox. The name medellinia refers to the city of Medellín. Conservation status: Least Concern (IUCN 3.1).
