It's Time for Love
It's Time for Love is the fifth studio album by American R&B singer Teddy Pendergrass. It was released on September 2, 1981, and recorded from March to June 1981 at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. The album blends R&B and soul and was released by Philadelphia International. Producers include Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff on most tracks, with Dexter Wansel and Teddy Pendergrass contributing on other songs.
The album peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard albums chart and No. 6 on the R&B albums chart. It spawned three singles: "I Can't Live Without Your Love / You Must Live On" (released August 6, 1981; reached No. 10 on the R&B chart), "You're My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration / Keep On Lovin' Me" (released October 21, 1981; peaked at No. 43 on the US chart and No. 4 on the R&B chart), and "Nine Times Out of Ten / The Gift of Love" (1982; No. 31 on the R&B chart). This was Pendergrass's last album before a 1982 car accident left him paralyzed.
The song "You're My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration" was sampled by Kendrick Lamar in 2024 for his track "Euphoria." Most tracks were written by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, with some exceptions.
