Italian destroyer Nazario Sauro

Nazario Sauro was the lead ship of Italy’s Sauro-class destroyers, built for the Regia Marina in the 1920s. Completed in 1926, she served in World War II and was sunk by aircraft on 3 April 1941.

Construction and design
- Built by Odero-Terni-Orlando at Genoa-Sestri Ponente
- Laid down: 9 February 1924; launched: 12 May 1926; completed: 23 September 1926
- Class: Sauro-class, enlarged and improved version of the Sella class

- Displacement: 1,058 tons standard, 1,600 tons full load
- Length: 90.16 m; Beam: 9.2 m; Draft: 2.9 m
- Complement: about 8–10 officers and 146 enlisted (wartime 155)
- Propulsion: two Parsons geared steam turbines, three Yarrow boilers
- Power: 36,000 shp; Speed: 31 knots (trial speed up to 36.5 knots)
- Range: 2,600 nautical miles at 14 knots

- Guns: four 120 mm guns in two twin mounts (fore and aft)
- Anti-aircraft: two 40 mm guns and two 13.2 mm machine guns
- Torpedoes: six 533 mm tubes in two triple mounts

Service
- Nazario Sauro was the lead ship of four destroyers and served with the Italian Navy during the interwar period and World War II.
