Venefica tentaculata is an eel in the duckbill/witch eel family (Nettastomatidae). It was described by Samuel Garman in 1899. This marine eel lives in subtropical waters of the eastern central and northwestern Pacific Ocean, including areas off Mexico, Nicaragua, Japan, and the United States. It typically dwells at depths of 100 to 500 meters, but can dive deeper. Males can reach up to 90 centimeters in length. Because it has a wide distribution and few threats in its deep-water habitat, the IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
