1997 WAC Championship Game
1997 WAC Championship Game: On December 6, 1997, the Sam Boyd Stadium in Whitney, Nevada hosted the game between the New Mexico Lobos (9–2), Mountain Division champions, and the Colorado State Rams (9–2), Pacific Division champions. Coached by Dennis Franchione and Sonny Lubick, respectively, the Rams defeated the Lobos 41–13 to win the 1997 Western Athletic Conference title. Attendance was 12,706, and ABC carried the game; it was the second WAC Championship Game and its penultimate edition.
