Israel women's national handball team
The Israel women’s national handball team competes in international events but has not yet played in a World Championship. The team began in 1963 and played its first international match about twelve years later. In recent years, they have worked to improve and have had some notable results in European Championship qualifiers and other regional events.
In October 2024, the Israel under-17 team finished fifth in the European U17 Championship Tier B after a dramatic win over Latvia decided by a penalty shootout.
World Championship qualifying: For the 2021 Women’s World Championship, Israel was eliminated in the first round in a Luxembourg-hosted qualification in March 2021, after beating Luxembourg and losing to Ukraine and Slovakia.
European Championship qualifying: For the 2020 European Championship, they were knocked out in the first round in Greece in June 2019, after beating Luxembourg, drawing with Finland, and losing to Greece.
For the 2022 European Championship, they played in the first round in the Faroe Islands in June 2021, losing to the Faroe Islands 25-29 and to Finland 24-28, and did not qualify.
