Iron Bodyguard is a 1973 Mandarin-language Hong Kong historical martial arts film directed by Chang Cheh and Pao Hsueh-li. It stars Chen Kuan-tai as Wang Wu, a legendary hero who steps in to help reform-minded officials during a turbulent period in Chinese history.

The story follows Wang Wu as he befriends the reformer Tan Sitong and others, faces opposition from Empress Dowager Cixi, and becomes involved in a struggle to implement reforms. After plans are challenged and betrayals occur, Wang Wu fights to rescue prisoners facing execution. The film ends with tragedy as Wang Wu is killed as he tries to escape.

Filming took place in Hong Kong. The martial arts choreography was by Tong Kai and Lau Kar-leung. The Shaw Brothers company produced and distributed the film, which was released on December 8, 1973, and runs 94 minutes.

Reception highlights:
- Andrew Saroch (fareastfilms.com): a polished slice of Shaw Brothers entertainment.
- Will (Silver Emulsion): 3 out of 4 stars; praised the ambition and some strong moments, but noted a disjointed flow.
- Venoms5 (CoolAssCinema): praised the fight scenes and Yueh Hua’s performance.
- Matt L. Reifschneider (Shaw Brothers Universal): sees it as a character-driven epic rather than a typical action movie, with ambitious structure.
- Some critics view Sammo Hung’s 1993 Blade of Fury as a remake of Iron Bodyguard.
