List of previously missing aircraft

These are aircraft that disappeared in flight and whose fate wasn’t known at first. The term "previously missing" is a bit unclear because it’s hard to say how much debris must be found or how long investigators search before a case is no longer considered missing. Under Annex 13 of the International Civil Aviation Organization, an aircraft is considered missing when the official search ends and the wreckage hasn’t been located. But this rule doesn’t define what counts as a found aircraft. The entries here are aircraft that became famous for once being missing.
