Ingrid Andersson (author)
Ingrid Svea Margareta Andersson (24 April 1918 – 12 February 1994) was a Swedish author known for writing about the culture of Norrland, the northern part of Sweden. She was born and raised on Timrå in southwestern Norrland.
Her first novel, Två berättelser (Two Stories), published in 1975 when she was 57, describes the life and legends of people in southwestern Norrland. The next year she published Ensamheten (The Solitude), about a lonely older woman and family relationships; Ensamheten was translated into English and German. In 1979 she published Barnet (The Child), an autobiographical book, and in 1982 Tillbaka till livet (Back to Life), about a young woman who loses her ability to speak after a car accident.
She won several awards: the Norrlands Litteraturpris for Norrland Literature in 1977 from the Norrländska litteratursällskapet; the Landsbygdens författarstipendium for rural authors in 1978 from Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan; and Sundsvall municipality's Kulturstipendium in 1975. She also appeared on Swedish radio.
She died on 12 February 1994 at the age of 75.
