Dugarajapatnam Port
Dugarajapatnam Port is a proposed seaport in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It would be owned by the Ministry of Shipping and funded with equity from the Andhra Pradesh government. The project was planned to start in 2020 and be completed by 2023, at an estimated cost of about ₹8,000 crore (roughly US$950 million). The central government would run the port along with Visakhapatnam Port.
Construction faced objections due to the nearby Pulicat Lake ecosystem and the Sriharikota ISRO satellite launch station. After environmental and forest clearances, the location was shifted to Vagarru at Tupilipalem village, about 20 km from Dugarajapatnam, but the port will still be referred to as Dugarajapatnam Port. The district administration is acquiring about 5,028 acres (2,035 hectares) of land at the new site.
