Hypodermyasis

Hypodermyasis is a parasitic infection caused by the larvae of warble flies, mainly Hypoderma lineatum and Hypoderma bovis. These flies mainly infect cattle in warmer areas of the Northern Hemisphere. Humans can become accidental hosts when they swallow the eggs. After hatching, the larvae migrate through the body's tissues, and symptoms depend on where they go; in people, common signs include migratory, itchy skin bumps, swelling, and discomfort. The infection is usually treated with ivermectin.
