Hydromyles globulosus is a unique sea slug. It’s the only species in its genus Hydromyles and in the family Hydromylidae. It lives in the open ocean in the Indo-Pacific region, mainly along eastern currents, and you can sometimes find many of them together.

What it’s like and how it lives
- It’s a pelagic mollusk often called a sea angel.
- It’s carnivorous (eats other small animals) and viviparous (gives birth to live young). Unlike many sea slugs, the babies develop inside the mother and hatch as juveniles.
- It can release an ink-like substance if disturbed.

Appearance
- It has a distinct head, a round translucent body, and long tentacles.
- Its internal organs appear bright orange or yellow.
- It has two wing-like structures that come from its modified foot.

Habitat and behavior
- Found in the eastern Indo-Pacific Ocean and its range is influenced by currents.
- Often seen in large numbers.

In culture
- It was featured in the 2009 video game Endless Ocean 2.
