Hyder Valley
Hyder Valley is a 20-mile stretch of the Gila River Valley in southwest Arizona, west of the town of Hyder. It runs along the Gila River in the northwestern part of the Sonoran Desert and lies mostly on the river’s northwest side.
The valley is connected to nearby areas: Park Valley to the southwest across the river, and Hyder Valley serves as the access route to the Dendora Valley to the northeast, near the western edge of Painted Rock Dam and Reservoir. The landscape trends southwest to northeast, with the Palomas Mountains to the west and the Palomas Plain to the north, which drains three other mountain ranges. The eastern part of the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge lies to the north, while Face Mountain and the Gila Bend Mountains are northeast. To the southeast, on the south side of the Gila River, is the Sentinel Plain.
