Giesen Hills
The Giesen Hills, or Giesener Berge, are a forested ridge in the Hildesheim district of Lower Saxony, Germany. They rise to about 243 meters at their highest point. The ridge sits in the northern part of the Innerste Uplands, between the Innerste River to the east and the Leine to the west. It lies north of Himmelsthür (on the edge of Hildesheim) and south of the town of Giesen. The highest point is an unnamed summit about 163 meters high.
The northern part is wooded with footpaths. The land slopes down toward the Innerste to the east and toward the Leine to the west, which runs about 6 kilometers away. To the south is a military training area, with the Osterberg hill (181 m) on its western edge, but it is not part of the Giesen Hills.
The B 6 road runs east of the ridge, with the Hildesheim Canal and a stretch of the A 7 motorway further east. Nearby settlements are Giesen to the north and Himmelsthür to the northwest of Hildesheim.
