Saunie Salyer
Saunie Salyer is an American film critic who co-founded the magazine Women in Film in 1972 with Siew-Hwa Beh. They started the publication as aspiring filmmakers in Los Angeles, and it became the first feminist film periodical. Film scholar Constance Penley notes that Women in Film published the first feminist critiques of Hollywood, promoted alternative films, and highlighted women’s contributions to film history.
