- Ric Griffin arrives to replace Mr. Barratt.
- Mr. Meyer is involved in a road accident; the wife of the other victim is seen driving Meyer's car, prompting an investigation by Alex.
- Janice’s pregnancy has serious complications and requires an emergency C-section; both mother and baby face life-threatening problems.
- Sam works against the family’s wishes to delay a child’s operation, leading to disastrous results.
- Owen must leave Katie with Chrissy during Janice’s operation; Chrissy’s supervision lapse results in Katie burning her arm.
- Meyer's team treats a young heart patient, but delays prove fatal.
- Alex reveals to Meyer that Sam influenced the family not to proceed; Meyer fires Sam and blackballs her from the profession.
