1989 Tour of the Basque Country
The 1989 Tour of the Basque Country was the 29th edition of the bike race. It took place from April 3 to April 7, 1989. The five-stage race covered 676.1 km, starting in Lazkao and finishing in Zumaia. Stephen Roche from Ireland, riding for Fagor–MBK, won the race with a total time of 17 hours, 14 minutes, and 7 seconds. Federico Echave of Spain (BH) finished second, and Jesús Blanco Villar of Spain (Seur) finished third.
