Hero is a 2004 single by the Swedish hard rock/heavy metal band Europe, from their album Start from the Dark. It was released on September 20, 2004, with the B-side "Reason." The track, 3:53 long, was released by Sanctuary Records and written by vocalist Joey Tempest. Produced by Kevin Elson and Europe, the song is a tribute to Phil Lynott, the frontman of Thin Lizzy, inspired by a meeting between Tempest and Lynott. The music video features the story of aspiring young rock musicians and includes clips of Europe on tour, serving as a tribute to Lynott. It was the second single from Start from the Dark, following "Got to Have Faith" (2004) and preceding "Always the Pretenders" (2006).
