Herida
Herida (Wounded) is a song originally recorded by Chilean singer Myriam Hernández. It was the third single from her 1990 album Dos and became a hit, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart in 1991. The song was later covered by American singer Brenda K. Starr as the lead single for her 1997 album Te Sigo Esperando. Starr’s salsa version topped the Billboard Tropical/Salsa Tracks chart for two weeks in April 1997 and also reached number 28 on the Hot Latin Tracks chart and number 14 on the Latin Pop Tracks chart. It was the eighth-best Tropical/Salsa track of 1997.
For Hernández, the song debuted at number 33 on the Hot Latin Tracks chart in late April 1991 and peaked at number three in early June, held from the top by Los Bukis’ “Mi Deseo” and Emmanuel’s “No He Podido Verte.” For Starr, the single debuted at number 34 on the Hot Latin Tracks chart in March 1997 and rose to 28 by May. On the Latin Pop Tracks chart, it started at 17 and peaked at 14; on the Tropical/Salsa chart, it debuted at 16 in February 1997, reached number one by April 1997, and stayed there for two weeks before being replaced.
