Henry T. Rainey Farm
Henry T. Rainey Farm, also known as Walnut Hall Estate, is a historic farm and wedding venue in Greene County, Illinois, just east of Carrollton along Illinois Route 108. The main house, Walnut Hall, was built from 1868 to 1870 by Luman Curtius. It is a red brick home with Greek Revival and Italianate design elements.
In 1909, politician Henry Thomas Rainey bought the farm. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1903 to 1921 and again from 1923 until his death in 1934, and was Speaker of the House in his final years. As Speaker, he helped pass New Deal legislation during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s early presidency and supported environmental conservation and farm aid programs.
In 2020, Brittany and Bobby Weller bought the property and turned it into an all-inclusive wedding venue, opening in 2021.
The farm spans about 425 acres and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 12, 1987.
