Head Bush is a 2022 Kannada-language gangster film directed by Shoonya and written by Agni Shridhar. It is produced by Dhananjaya and Ramco Somanna under Daali Pictures, SD Manna Talkies, and Zee Studios. The ensemble cast includes Dhananjaya, Payal Rajput (in her Kannada debut), Balu Nagendra, Devaraj, Yogesh, V. Ravichandran, Raghu Mukherjee, Vasishta N. Simha, Sruthi Hariharan, and Prakash Belawadi. The film released on 21 October 2022 and runs for 138 minutes.

Plot
Set in late 1970s Bangalore, M. P. Jayaraj, nicknamed “Head Bush,” and his friends Ganga and Samson are recruited to head the Indira Brigade to protect Indira Gandhi’s reputation. With money from politicians and cops backing them, Jayaraj grows powerful in the city, but internal tensions spark a personal feud within the gang.

Reception
Head Bush received mixed to negative reviews and was a box-office disappointment. Critics noted a mix of strong ideas with uneven execution and pacing. Reviews highlighted elements appealing to fans of gangster cinema, while others criticized character writing and narrative clarity.

Controversy
A scene that allegedly insults Veeragase, a Karnataka folk dance, led to protests from temple authorities who claimed the chariot shown in the film wasn’t real and requested changes.
