Hauora

Hauora is a Māori idea about health and well-being in New Zealand. It has four parts: taha tinana (physical health), taha hinengaro (mental and emotional health), taha whanau (social health), and taha wairua (spiritual health).

The Whare Tapa Wha model shows these four parts as the four walls of a house; all four walls are needed for strength and balance.

Some people have suggested adding a fifth part, whenua, which means a connection with the land, but this is not part of the standard model.
