Hallie Ephron
Hallie Elizabeth Ephron (born March 9, 1948) is an American novelist, journalist, book reviewer, and writing teacher who specializes in mystery and suspense. She has written several crime novels, including Never Tell a Lie, There Was an Old Woman, Come and Find Me, and Night Night, Sleep Tight, all of which were finalists for the Mary Higgins Clark Award. In 2011, Never Tell a Lie was adapted into the Lifetime movie And Baby Will Fall. She published You'll Never Know, Dear in 2017. Her how-to book Writing and Selling Your Mystery Novel was nominated for a 2006 Edgar Award, with an updated edition released in 2017. Ephron has been a crime fiction reviewer for the Boston Globe for many years and teaches fiction writing at conferences.
She was born in Los Angeles to screenwriters Henry and Phoebe Ephron and is the sister of Nora, Delia, and Amy Ephron. She graduated from Barnard College in 1969. She was married to Jerold Touger for 52 years until his death in 2021, and they had two daughters. The Ephron family is Jewish. She and Donald Davidoff wrote under the pen name G. H. Ephron.
