Hadar Hatorah
Hadar Hatorah, officially Yeshiva Kol Yaakov Yehuda Hadar Hatorah Rabbinical Seminary, is a Chabad men's yeshiva in Brooklyn, New York. It is the world's first yeshiva for baalei teshuva (Jews who became religious). The yeshiva is at 824 Eastern Parkway in the Crown Heights neighborhood. It was founded in 1962 by Rabbi Yisroel Jacobson to provide full-time study in a traditional yeshiva for baalei teshuva. It began in the Chabad world headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway and moved to its current home as enrollment grew. It is connected with the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education (NCFJE). Rabbi Jacob J. Hecht, executive vice president and national director of NCFJE, helped develop the yeshiva and served as its dean; after his death the yeshiva was renamed in his honor. The curriculum includes Torah study, prayer, Jewish law, Hasidic teachings, and Jewish values; some courses offer college credits. The yeshiva welcomes students from all backgrounds and affiliations within Judaism.
