Gregor Quasten
Gregor Quasten (3 October 1952 – 4 November 2004) was a German football goalkeeper. He was born in Mönchengladbach and began his career at PSV Mönchengladbach as a youth. He joined Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1971 and mostly served as a backup goalkeeper, with few competitive appearances.
In 1975 he moved to FC Homburg, where he became a regular, playing 185 league games and even scoring four goals. In 1980 he transferred to Hertha BSC and appeared 147 times for the club, helping them win promotion to the Bundesliga for the 1982–83 season, when he played 37 league matches. He later played for Waldhof Mannheim (1984–87) and had a second spell at FC Homburg (1987–88) before finishing his career with SV Edenkoben.
In total, Quasten played 55 Bundesliga games and 299 games in the second division, scoring seven goals, which is unusual for a goalkeeper. He was part of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s winning squads in the DFB-Pokal (1973), the Bundesliga (1975), and the UEFA Cup (1975) as a reserve goalkeeper. Gregor Quasten died of cancer on 4 November 2004 at the age of 52.
