List of historical markers in Prescott, Arizona
Prescott, Arizona has several historical markers about its early history. The city was founded in 1864 along Granite Creek, an early source of placer gold. It was the capital of the Arizona Territory. Today Prescott is known for ranching, mining, and health services, including asthma relief. The Whipple Veterans Hospital sits on the site of the old Fort Whipple. The area was the site of the First Governor's Mansion and the Arizona Pioneer's Home. Frontier Days, the oldest rodeo in the West, began here. Erected by the Prescott Rotary Club in 1959.
