Grateful Dawg is a 2000 American documentary about the friendship and musical collaboration between Jerry Garcia and David Grisman. Directed and produced by Gillian Grisman (David Grisman’s daughter) with Pamela Hamilton, the film uses home videos and live performances to show their bond beyond Garcia’s work with the Grateful Dead. Cinematography by Justin Kreutzmann, son of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann. The film begins with how Grisman and Garcia first met in 1964 at a Pennsylvania club to see Bill Monroe, and it features interviews with musicians like Bela Fleck, Peter Rowan, and Ronnie McCoury, along with many Grisman–Garcia performances.
