Government Christian Higher Secondary School, Rawalpindi
Government Christian Higher Secondary School, Rawalpindi, commonly called Mission High School, is a government public school in Raja Bazaar, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. It is one of the city’s oldest schools, founded in 1856 by the American Presbyterian Mission. It was originally named Mission High School and was associated with missionary work, and it was affiliated with Calcutta University. In 1893, it was upgraded to a college, and in 1902 the college part moved away to become Gordon College, while the school stayed in its original location. The school was nationalized in 1970 and became part of the Government of Punjab. After nationalization, educational standards were reportedly not as high. The school’s land area has decreased from 37 kanals to 20 kanals. In 2001, the Presbyterian Mission Lahore tried to reacquire the school, but the Punjab Teachers Association opposed it.
