Gordon Barnier
Gordon Arthur Barnier (14 April 1928 – 11 July 2000) was an Australian politician from New South Wales. He was a member of the Labor Party and served in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the representative for Blacktown from 1971 to 1981.
He was the son of Roy and Gertrude Barnier and went to Cleveland Street High School. On 27 February 1954 he married Pamela, and they had seven children. Barnier served on several local councils, including Blacktown Council, Prospect Council and Hawkesbury River Council, and he was an executive member of the Local Government Election Association of New South Wales from 1964 to 1965.
In 1971 he was chosen as the Labor candidate for Blacktown after the sitting member, Jim Southee, campaigned for the new seat of Mount Druitt. Barnier was elected, and he was re-elected in 1973, 1976 and 1978. In 1981 he lost preselection to John Aquilina and then retired from politics.
He died in Hornsby in 2000.
