The Goldman–Sachs family is a Jewish family famous for the investment bank Goldman Sachs. Marcus Goldman met Joseph Sachs in Würzburg, and they became lifelong friends. Marcus's daughter Louisa married Samuel Sachs, Joseph's son, and Marcus's son Julius married Sarah Adler. In 1882, Samuel joined the business, which was then renamed M. Goldman and Sachs. For nearly fifty years, all partners were from the same extended family.
