Martyn Paul Casey (born 10 July 1960) is an English-born Australian rock bass guitarist. Born in Chesterfield, England, he grew up in Melbourne and has twin brother Mark. Casey plays bass using a Fender Precision or a Fender Jazz Bass. He lives in Fremantle, Australia with his wife and children and also plays with the Painkillers.

Casey started his career with the Nobodies in 1980, then played briefly in a reggae group called A2Z. He joined The Triffids in 1982, replacing Byron Sinclair, and helped make their early records including Bad Timing and Other Stories and Treeless Plain. The band moved to London in 1984, released Born Sandy Devotional in 1986, and later Calenture in 1987. The Triffids split after The Black Swan (1989) and a live album Stockholm (1990) was released to fulfill their label obligations.

In 1990, Casey joined Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds on bass. He played on many key albums, including Henry’s Dream (1992), Live Seeds (1993), Let Love In (1994), Murder Ballads (1996), The Boatman’s Call (1997), No More Shall We Part (2001), Nocturama (2003), Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus (2004), Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! (2008), and later Push the Sky Away (2013), Skeleton Tree (2016), and Ghosteen (2019). He missed part of the 2024 European tour due to illness and was temporarily replaced by Colin Greenwood.

Casey also helped form Grinderman with Nick Cave in 2005, releasing Grinderman (2007) and Grinderman 2 (2010). He remains active as a musician and composer, known for his work across alternative, experimental, folk, and garage rock.
