John Brady (1812–1887) was an Irish doctor, landlord and nationalist politician from County Leitrim. He was born in County Cavan, the son of Tobias and Margaret Brady. He trained as a physician and belonged to the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons. By the 1870s he owned more than 2,000 acres of land in Leitrim, mainly in the Bawnboy area and near Cloone. In 1847 he married Sarah Rayner of Ely, Cambridgeshire, and they had two daughters. In 1852 he was elected as a Tenant Right MP for Leitrim and held the seat for 27 years, being re-elected at every general election until he retired in 1879 due to ill health. He died in late March 1887 at his home near Rugby.
