PSLV-C57
PSLV-C57 was ISRO’s 59th PSLV mission and carried India’s indigenously built solar observatory Aditya-L1. It launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh on 2 September 2023 at 11:50 IST (06:20 UTC). Aditya-L1 was placed into an elliptical Earth orbit of 235 by 19,500 km using the PSLV-XL configuration. This marked India’s first solar observatory in space. On 6 January 2024, Aditya-L1 reached its final orbit around the Sun-Earth L1 point, with a period of about 180 days, at a distance of roughly 1.5 million kilometers from Earth.
