Gentil Ferreira Viana
Gentil Ferreira Viana (2 June 1935 – 23 February 2008) was one of the founders of Angola’s Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), a group that helped the country gain independence. In 1974, he and Joaquim Pinto de Andrade split from the MPLA and started the Activa Revolt. The group later rejoined the MPLA. Later in life, the two men, longtime friends, died on the same day in 2008.
