Genesis Microchip Inc. was a semiconductor company that made video-processing integrated circuits for flat-panel LCD TVs and monitors. It was founded in 1987 by Paul Russo in Markham, Ontario, and later operated with offices in Santa Clara, Taipei, Markham, and Bangalore. The company went public in 1998 and had about 500 employees by 2006, with roughly $237 million in revenue that year. In 2002, Genesis acquired Sage Inc., a leading digital display technology firm; Sage had previously bought Faroudja, known for Emmy-winning video processing.

Genesis developed key video technologies such as DCDi, MADi, image scaling (a major patent), color management, and LCD response time compensation. Its work also helped lay the groundwork for DisplayPort interconnect technology, which is now a VESA standard. On December 11, 2007, STMicroelectronics announced its acquisition of Genesis Microchip, making Genesis a ST subsidiary.
