General Cemetery
General Cemetery is a 2013 Peruvian supernatural horror film directed by Dorian Fernández-Moris and written by Javier Velasquez. Set in Iquitos, it draws on urban legends about the city’s main cemetery. The story follows Andrea, a 15-year-old girl who, after her father’s death, tries to contact him with her friends using a Ouija board, triggering terrifying events. As Peru’s first full-length horror movie, General Cemetery uses a found-footage style influenced by Paranormal Activity, Cloverfield, REC, and The Blair Witch Project. The screenplay was co-written by Velasquez and Fernández-Moris, and the production received substantial budget support from both state-owned and private entities. The film runs 88 minutes and is in Spanish. It was released on July 25, 2013.
