Gavin Lovegrove
Gavin Brian Lovegrove (born 21 October 1967) is a retired New Zealand javelin thrower from Hamilton. He is 1.88 m tall and weighed about 94 kg during his career. His personal best throw of 88.20 metres in 1996 is the New Zealand record.
Lovegrove represented New Zealand at two Olympic Games (1992 in Barcelona and 1996 in Atlanta). He won bronze medals at three consecutive Commonwealth Games (1986 in Edinburgh, 1990 in Auckland, and 1994 in Victoria). He also competed in five World Championships (1987, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997). As a junior, he set world junior records in 1986 with throws of 76.68 m and 79.58 m. He was a six-time national champion (1987, 1990–1994).
In 1990, Lovegrove received the New Zealand 1990 Commemoration Medal. After retiring from athletics, he moved into computer science and works as a web developer.
