Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited is a private Canadian gaming and entertainment company based in Burnaby, British Columbia. It operates 31 casinos across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, and employs over 7,000 people. The company is owned by Catalyst Capital Group Inc. and has revenue over $200 million. It is one of Canada’s largest casino and entertainment operators.

Since it started in 1992, Gateway has grown from two small Vancouver-area casinos with about 150 staff to a large network of venues and related entertainment, food, beverage, and hotel offerings. Key early moves included acquiring the Mandarin Centre in Vancouver and the Royal Towers Hotel in New Westminster, followed by expansions in Maple Ridge, Burnaby, and Edmonton. Gateway later acquired more properties in Alberta and British Columbia, opened flagship casinos like Starlight and Grand Villa, and expanded through acquisitions of Community Gaming Centres in British Columbia. The company entered Ontario in 2016 by purchasing 11 OLG‑owned casinos and has since grown its Ontario presence with new Playtime and Cascades Casino venues.

Notable developments in recent years include extending food and beverage offerings with mobile “Match on the Move” trucks, opening Cascades Casinos in North Bay (Ontario) and Delta (British Columbia) in 2022, and launching Wasaga Playtime Casino in Wasaga Beach the same year. In 2023, Gateway experienced a cyberattack that temporarily shut down casinos and restaurants in Ontario, with most sites reopening by May 2.
