Frisco League
Frisco League is a high school athletic conference in Mid-Missouri with nine member schools. Most schools compete in Class 2 or 3, which is common for smaller rural districts. The league is named after the Frisco railroad, a longtime presence in the area.
The league officially crowns champions in girls’ basketball, cross country, softball, track and field, and volleyball; and in boys’ baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, and track and field. Some schools also participate in sports like golf, tennis, and girls’ soccer that are MSHSAA-sponsored but not league-sponsored.
A unique feature of the Frisco League is official fall baseball and spring softball competition. Most activities use four classes, but basketball uses five classes and football uses six, reflecting basketball’s popularity in Missouri.
The league began in 1924 in Lebanon, founded by Phil M. Donnelly. Original members included Lebanon, Stoutland, Richland, Crocker, Linn Creek, Conway, Niangua, and Marshfield. It started as the Frisco High School Athletic Association, focusing on schools without indoor basketball courts and with no football due to scheduling conflicts. Today none of the member schools sponsor football (Iberia had a team in the late 1980s but disbanded in 1987). The organization gradually became known as the Frisco League and expanded into baseball, academics, and other areas.
