Fredrik Neij
Fredrik Neij (born 27 April 1978 in Jönköping, Sweden), also known as TiAMO, is a Swedish computer expert who co-founded The Pirate Bay and the hosting company PRQ. The Pirate Bay trial began on 16 February 2009, with Neij and other operators charged with helping people infringe copyrights. On 17 April 2009 he was found guilty and sentenced to one year in prison plus about $905,000 in damages.
In November 2014 Neij was arrested in Nong Khai, Thailand, on an Interpol warrant while trying to cross from Laos. Thai authorities said a US-based film association had sought his capture. During about three years in Laos he reportedly crossed into Thailand around 30 times and had a home on Phuket. BayFiles, a Pirate Bay–affiliated file-hosting site registered under Neij’s name, was shut down after the arrest.
He served about two-thirds of a 10-month sentence (around 200 days) in Skänninge Prison in central Sweden and was released on 1 June 2015. He later said he planned to settle in Laos and work in IT.
