Foster Hewitt Broadcasting
Foster Hewitt Broadcasting Ltd owned Toronto radio station CKFH 1400. It was started in 1951 by hockey broadcaster Foster Hewitt near Maple Leaf Gardens. The station later moved to 1430 kHz as CKFH-AM 1430. The company co-owned CFTO-TV in the 1960s and 70s and was an early co-owner of CTV during its cooperative era. Hewitt sold the station in 1980 to Telmed Communications Limited. It was renamed CJCL-AM 1430 in 1981, then became all-sports FAN-1430 in 1992. In 1995 the station switched to 590 kHz and became FAN 590.
