Discovery District
Discovery District is a major life sciences and research area in Downtown Toronto, Canada. It sits around University Avenue in the northern part of downtown and is bounded by Bloor Street to the north, Bay Street to the east, Dundas Street to the south, and Spadina Avenue to the west. The district includes the University of Toronto’s St. George campus and Toronto Metropolitan University, along with hospital campuses and research facilities clustered near University Avenue and College Street.
Key institutions include the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto General Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, and Women’s College Hospital, as well as the MaRS Discovery District. The area is a hub for biotech and health research, home to major life sciences organizations like Ontario Genomics, OBIO, Toronto Innovation Acceleration Partners (TIAP), and JLabs Toronto.
